Paris, 1943: Jean-Paul Sartre's existential work "L'Être et le néant : Essai d'ontologie phénoménologique"(Being and Nothingness: An Essay on Phenomenological Ontology) was published.  
In my existential drawing, made after "Being and Nothingness", you can clearly recognize that this guy feels like thrown into a world he doesn't control and didn't choose. If this sounds too pessimistic, here is an optimistic comment: the guy is in the search and journey for true self and true personal meaning in life.
