Los Angeles, 1932: The premiere of Tod Browning's film "Freaks" shocked the audience with its use of non-actors with real deformities. Soon the film was shortened, the strongest scenes were cut out, but nevertheless, it was quietly withdrawn from theatrical release and was banned in many countries for more than thirty years. Today, the film was recognized as Tod Browning’s masterpiece and has achieved cult status. Unfortunately, the original 90 minutes version is forever lost and we can see (even on Internet) only a shortened version (64 minutes) with a happy ending.
