Berlin, 1929: The premiere of Georg Wilhelm Pabst's film "Die Büchse der Pandora" (Pandora's Box), based on the play by Frank Wedekind, from 1904. American actress Louise Brooks, in the role of the fatal Lulu, will become overnight an icon of Weimar’s decadency. My portrait of Lulu, as a woman that uses men as hairpins, is very mild comparing to Lulu in the film.
