Paris, 1923: The premiere of the ballet "La Création du mond" (The Creation of the World) by Blaise Cendrars, with music composed by Darius Milhaud. Choreographer was Jean Börlin, with his legendary "Les Ballets suédois" dancing. Fernand Léger designed costumes, set and curtain. When I watch the photograph from this performance and unbelievable Léger’s drawings of costumes (in Bengt Häger’s impressive book "Ballets suédois"), I must confess that I have never seen more imaginative theatre costumes. There is no need to say that the premiere was a great success (or Succès de scandale, what’s even better).
