Berlin, 1922: The premier of the Fritz Lang’s film "Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler" (Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler), with Rudolf Klein-Rogge in the title role. Film, loosely based on the novel by Norbert Jacques, tells the story of a bad genius (a master of telepathic hypnosis) that wants no less than to destroy the world. The next film about Dr. Mabuse, Fritz Lang will make in 1933, "Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse" (The Testament of Dr Mabuse), and the third one in 1960: "Die Tausend Augen des Dr. Mabuse" (The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse). In the same year, Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s film, "Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens" (Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror), was premiered in Berlin. I have nothing better to say about this film than: just type the name Nosferatu on Google, and you’ll be immediately able to enjoy 84 minutes of Murnau’s masterpiece from 1922.
