Paris, 1922: An American in Paris, Sylvia Beach, the owner of the bookshop "Shakespeare and Company", publishes James Joyce’s novel “Ulysses”. It was a reconstruction of Homer's epic "The Odyssey", which took place in a single day, 16 June 1904, in modern Dublin. The way Joyce tell us the story, his "stream of consciousness" will make this book the most influential book of the 20th Century. I find that Joyce has played with words, the syntax and the grammar of English language, as he wanted to repeat Henri Matisse’s painting from 1906,"La joie de vivre" (The Joy of Life), but now under the title "La joie d’ecrire" (The Joy of Writing).
