London, 1922: In his literary magazine "The Criterion", Thomas Stern Eliot published his poem, "The Waste Land", a masterpiece of modern poetry. I like so much this verse: "And we shall play a game of chess, Pressing lidless eyes and waiting for a knock upon the door." The strength of this image (Pressing lidless eyes) is unbearable gently and violent at the same time. That’s an ideal I’m trying to reach in my drawings.
