Paris, 1917: The ballet "Parade", performed by Diaghilev's "Ballets Russes", premieres in the Théâtre du Châtelet. The libretto was written by Jean Cocteau, the music was composed by Eric Satie, and the choreography was made by Léonide Massine. The stage set as well as costume design were made by Pablo Picasso. Picasso also painted the huge stage curtain (16 x 11 meters), and that is his most monumental canvas, which inspired me to make my version of "Parade". The premiere was, of course, a great success du scandal. And one more important thing: In a printed announcement for "Parade", Guillaume Apollinaire coined the term "surrealisme" for the very first time!
