Vienna, the Hofburg Theater 1913: George Bernard Shaw’s masterpiece, play "Pygmalion", is premiered in German (the first English presentation will take place later). The play is based on the classical legend from Ovid's "Metamorphoses", but Shaw put his story in contemporary London, where professor Higgins, a phonetician, transforms a flower girl into a society lady. As for Shaw, I like his words: "I don’t know if there are men on the moon, but if there are, they must be using the earth as their lunatic asylum".
