Paris, 1913: "Du côté de chez Swann" (Swann’s Way), the first of seven volumes of Marcel Proust’s "La Recherche du Temps Perdu" (In Search of Lost Time) is published. The completed work (1927) has over 3,000 pages and over 2,000 characters typical of French Society at the turn of the Century, but the taste of the little crumb of Madeleine, which can return suddenly the whole memory of an event, is the point.
