New York City, 1913: The European avant-garde art was presented to the American Audience at the International Exhibition of Modern Art, known as "The Armory Show". This exhibition had a great impact on American artists. Marcel Duchamp’s painting, "Nude Descending a Staircase, No.2", was the Succès de scandale of the Armory Show. As we’re talking about nude woman, let me remind you on one fact: at that time, the women in New York state were not allowed to participate (by voting) in elections.
