London, 1905: Edward Gordon Craig’s "The Art of Theatre" is published.
By creating a simplified stage consisting of very few props (that could easily be manipulated during the performance) and by using light to capture the essential spirit of the play, Craig paved the way to modern theatre. They say that Craig refused to direct any project over which he did not have complete artistic control. I like this attitude so much. Long live Craig!
