Paris, 1905: The premiere of Claude Debussy’s "La Mer". This single symphony established Debussy as a master musical impressionist, although, as they say, he didn’t like at all to be considered as an impressionist. Nevertheless, my illustration for "La Mer" is not in an impressionistic style. Evidently, it is closer to a symbolist style, and if we know that the leading French symbolist poet Stéphane Mallarmé was good friend of Debussy (Mallarmé’s poem "L'après-midi d'un faune" inspired Debussy for his famous composition with the same title), then maybe both of two great artists would be satisfied with my work.
