Berlin, 1904: Frank Wedekind's play "Pandora's Box" is published. It features the famous femme fatale character Lulu and was among the first plays exploring the theme of a sexuality in the urban underworld that challenges conventional ideas about morality. I couldn’t resist to Lulu’s charming obscenity, that’s why I put three artworks connected with Lulu in my 20th Century: here in 1904, then in 1929 film “Die Büchse der Pandora” by Georg Wilhem Pabst and in 1937 Alban Berg’s opera “Lulu”.
